Imagine a March Madness for enthusiasm about learning! 

That is the idea behind the Live It Learn It Ditty-Off. 

Live It Learn It provides academically rigorous programming that gets students out of the classroom and into world-class intsitutions of learning throughout Washington, D.C.  We work in all quadrants of the city (i.e. from north to south to east and west) with high poverty DCPS students in grades 4, 5 and 6.  Our academic programming explores science, art and history in local museums, National Parks and Monuments, historical homes and even some gardens and local waterways.  

The Live It Learn It Ditty is sung each time students participate in one of our programs.  We teach a pre-lesson in the classroom, lead the academic trip and also follow-up with an engaging post lesson for each program that we run.  The Ditty allows students to begin each session with an enthusiastic and definitive starting point. 

Since Live It Learn It works in 20 schools, the Ditty also acts as a unifying force when we bring students together from various schools for our annual Superstars trip in June.    

Teachers have elected to participate in the Ditty-Off and students have been challenged with adding their own creative spin to it.  The winning classroom will have its name engraved on a trophy along with bragging rights for a year! 

Throughout the month of March, classes will compete for votes so that they can advance in our brackets.  Each Monday a new competition will begin.  Classes will have one week to garner the most votes.  Teachers and students are encouraged to vote and also motivate their local school community to support them.  You may vote multiple times so encourage everyone to vote throughout the week!  The winner of the week's competition will be announced the following Monday morning. 

The beauty of the bracket system is that the unexpected can always happen.  We welcome a Cinderella story.
